one day the world

one day the world will collapse

and be reborn too

this painting was done in 2023, then i stumbled upon it in 2025, decided it was in fact not done, and truly finished it.

the blue in it used to be bright green. as i worked on this painting, i was listening to many lectures about lemuria and atlantis. learning about ancient civilizations makes you zoom out and see existence from a very different viewpoint. what seem like life or death situations in our lives now are insignificant in the large scheme of things. and more than that, everything is utterly predictable. our earth went through these cycles many times and our epoch is just another stage of her evolution. the human might seem giant whereas galaxies are dots in the sky, but the body decays and the soul is forever.

i admit, this line of thinking creates an enormous sense of detachment, that gets too much to function in this life. but a healthy about of that understanding living in a corner of your mind is beneficial to a human life, i believe.

that same state/hyperfixation on ancient civilizations later inspired a series of paper paintings that are truly precious to me—that felt encoded with something subconscious, but seemed intimidating at the same time. people were already saying that my work was too abstract and hard to understand and showing no skill or talent. these pieces were a step too far. and still, it’s some of my favorite styles that i’ve done.
