더 먹어라
this painting is a mirror to ‘gyvenimo vaisiai’ in a way. they share many similarities, but the strongest link is the title itself which shows up on the canvas here, and on the canvas of ‘gyvenimo vaisiai’ as a fragment.
‘더 먹어라’ (‘eat more’) and ‘nothing exists beyond me’ play into that same line of thinking where you want something intensely and alongside the feeling of lack there is also an understanding that what you want is already yours.
this goes quite metaphysical and you can call it esoteric exploration, you can call it a god complex.
the shapes this artwork takes are different than most of my paintings, there’s a sense of fragmentation, and while i’m usually entirely satisfied with the how colors harmonize in my paintings, the colors here are only adjacent to what would be harmonious. which is a challenging and interesting thing for me to allow in my work.
to me, this painting is a meditation (though i suppose all artworks can be), and a delving into a self-indulgent outlook of the world. what if everything really is according to my will? what if my reality really is just my own and whatever i say goes?
this painting is the first, hedonistic step of that. the next step would be on a much larger scale.
